How to: Hautpflege im Sommer

How to: Hautpflege im Sommer

Summer is here (FINALLY!!). As we enjoy the first rays of sunshine and finally tuck away our thick sweaters, it’s a great time to review your current skincare routine. Summer presents special challenges for our skin.

Hydration: Your Skin’s BFF This Summer

Due to increased UV exposure and sweating, our skin can lose moisture and dry out more quickly. That’s why light fluids (a light, often water-based product) and hydrating serums are essential in summer. If you’re not already using a product with hyaluronic acid (INCI: Hyaluronic Acid or Sodium Hyaluronate), now’s the time. Hyaluronic acid is a natural skin substance that plays a crucial role in moisture regulation. This ingredient can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, making your skin look plump and well-hydrated.

Facial Ice Tools: Ice Your Face Like a Pro

Do you wake up with puffy eyes in the morning or crave a refreshing boost? Using facial ice tools can help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and give you a morning pick-me-up. For a refreshing massage, you can make your own Gua Sha stone by filling your facial tools with water or green tea and freezing them for 2 to 4 hours. Just make sure not to expose your skin to the cold for too long.

SUNBURN IS NEVER IN FASHION!

Sorry for the loud tone, but if you’re still not using sunscreen in 2024, we’re speechless. Sunburn is more than just temporary redness. It occurs when UV radiation damages the DNA in skin cells, leading to inflammation and pain. In summer, the skin is exposed to more intense sunlight, including visible light and invisible UV light. The skin produces more melanin, the pigment responsible for its color, which results in a tan that serves as a natural protective mechanism against further UV damage. However, excessive sun exposure can lead to sunburn, causing the skin to become red and painful. Therefore, comprehensive protection against UVB and UVA rays is necessary.

Cleansing: Splash & Dash

Your cleansing routine should also adjust to your skin's needs in summer. Choose mild cleansing products that effectively remove dirt and sweat without drying out your skin. If you sweat a lot or spend a lot of time outdoors, you might need to cleanse your skin more frequently. But don’t overdo it—excessive cleansing and peeling can stress your skin and weaken the skin barrier.
